After completing a six-month postulancy in December Br. Paul Smith had the joy of receiving the Cistercian Novice’s Habit at Holy Cross Abbey—thereby beginning his formal canonical novitiate. The so-called “clothing of the novice” is a special event in the life of the monk (and of the community) as we each recall our own reception of the habit and renew our gratitude to God for the privilege of serving him in this unique calling that is Cistercian Monastic life. Join us in congratulating Br. Paul and praying for his perseverance as he continues his initial formation in preparation for monastic vows.
