Mount St. Mary Abbey

With the urging of Dom Edmund Futterer, Abbot of Our Lady of the Valley, nuns from St. Mary's Abbey in Glencairn, Ireland accompanied by six American novices who had made their novitiate there, left the homeland in 1949 to make the first United States foundation of Trappistines. It is located in southern Massachusetts near the 300-year-old town of Wrentham. The community spends some time each day in Eucharistic Adoration. International in membership, we have many sisters from other countries The community has just completed the construction of a new candy facility. Guest House: We are happy to offer hospitality to those who wish to come to share the Monastic atmosphere of Mount Saint Mary's Abbey and environment. We provide two retreat houses for private retreats for individuals or groups. Retreatants may attend any of the Abbey liturgy including the daily Eucharistic Celebration, and are welcome to pray quietly in our Abbey Church at any time between 3 am and 7:30 pm.
